Functional Storage with Seamless Design
✍️ Description:
To maximize both workspace and storage, Cori wanted a solution that would expand the surface area of the kitchen island while providing decorative and functional storage for cookbooks and unique cookware. The design needed to seamlessly integrate with the existing prefabricated cabinetry, ensuring a built-in look without disrupting the flow of the kitchen.
Constructed from budget-friendly MDF, the shelving unit was trimmed and finished for a high-end aesthetic. The front edges were wrapped with trim, the baseboard runs along the front as a kick plate, and a custom lip blends with the scribe molding used on the cabinetry. To tie the entire kitchen together, beadboard backing was incorporated, matching other design elements throughout the space.
The finished result? A polished, custom storage solution that looks like it was always part of the kitchen.
